Air Masses, Global Winds, and Types of Rain
1) The dominant air mass is Maritime Tropical.
2) South easterly trade winds occur from May to October, and from November to April the winds are light and variable.
3) Orographic rainfall is a common feature on the main islands. During the wet season, rainfall is particularly high on the windward side of the islands (southeast). Rainfall is variable on the smaller islands depending on their location and size.
